Funk Freaks is a worldwide movement representing the music, lifestyle, and vinyl of the most prominent genre of the backyards of America and the Hinterhöfe of Europe in the very late 70’s and 80’s up until today.

The post-disco, boogie, modern soul and synth funk is enjoying a huge revival and FUNK FREAKS Orange County are at the fore of it with members of their worldwide movement from St. Petersburg to Lyon to Santa Ana to Berlin !!!

This October 2nd (Tuesday night before the German National Holiday) is the 7th annual Funk Freaks Meeting in Berlin at the lovely Kotti Monarch – directly opposite the U-Bahn Station Kottbusser Tor on the U1 & U8 !!!

Funk Freaks are also celebrating they`re 10th Year in the game in 2019 so massive shout outs here to the California’s Orange County & Santa Ana where it all started!!!

FREE BEER alert for south-central Berlin …

just a quick post to announce the first exciting thing on my new blog:

the foto is an anecdote i associate with free beers in neukölln … this was in the früperle bar sometime in 2009 for i think a double birthday of Miriam W. and someone i cant remember – another memory was a great live performance of the great manouche-gypsy-swing band the Shoeswing Stringers! – and i shall add i did play a lot of records that glorious night too …

hello! – here i am – where are you ? like my site already? no? ok – “spass beiseite” (humor aside) as we say here in germany

i am here to have a piece of the online pie and share, learn and link and yeah sell my philosophy…

i am primarily concerned with keeping the funk alive and having some fun here on my own site!
i live and work in berlin where i have engage in a variety of things including guiding people through town n pedicabs, rikshaws or biketaxi as we call them here, besiddes i have a soft spot for vinyl and music .. viniyl cause i also do a lot of collecting dj’ing and promoting of parties: for one there is the klunkerkranich where i curate a the program one sunday a month and the “deine mudda iss disco” party series at kaffee burger every second thursday. besides that i do a variety of gigs in and around town and host the funk freaks dj crew once a year here in berlin.

i will also be reporting on interesting developments on the musical side here which may be a record review or artist feature, or post some random stuff or even weird and funny stuff to help people broaden their horizon through objective insight and irony. i will also want to feature topics here which are social/worldview in nature … but more on that later…
